Boys Track Finishes 8th At The Valparaiso Regional

The 2025 boys track season came to an end for HC at the Valparaiso Regional on the 29th. The team finished eighth behind seven Duneland Conference schools. While the team did not have anyone qualify for the state meet at North Central High School this Saturday, it was still a day to be proud of, highlighted by yet another school record. In the final event of the night, the 4x400 team of Tayceon Parkman, Chase Fajman, Rocco Lopez and David Murphy broke a 25-year old record with their 5th place 3:25.78. in that race, Tayceon Parkman and Rocco Lopez ran personal best split times. In the pole vault, AJ Noel equaled his personal best performance. AJ is currently the 9th best pole vaulter in school history. The 4x800 team of Jerome Murphy, Chris Epting, Noah Hernandez, and Chase Fajman ran a season best time, and put themselves in the 6th spot in school history. Chris Epting and Noah Hernandez ran personal best split times in the race. Elijah Pennavaria and Rocco Lopez both qualified for the regional final in the 110 hurdles. Elijah finished 5th, while Rocco finished 6th. The top four finishers in the race were seniors. Rocco and Elijah currently have the 4th and 6th fastest times in school history. Zumji Gofwen ran a total of five races on the night, counting trials and finals in both the 100 and 200 meter dashes, plus the 4x100 relay. Zumji placed 5th and 7th in the races, respectively. Zumji finishes the season as the school record holder in the 100, 200, and is a part of the record-holding 4x100 relay team. The 4x100 relay of Dominic Giglio, Ben Alvarado, Tayceon Parkman, and Zumji Gofwen went into the competition seeded 3rd, but came away with a 5th place finish. They are the school record holders in this event. David Murphy placed 8th in the 400 meter dash. David is the second fastest 400 meter dash runner in school history. Rocco Lopez ran a personal best 40.32 in the 300 hurdles to place 8th. Rocco finishes the season having run the 5th fastest time in school history. Ryan Sandberg ran personal best times in both the 1600 and the 3200 meter runs, good for 10th and 7th places, respectively. Ryan is number nine on our top ten list for the 1600, and has run the 6th fastest time in school history in the 3200. Chase Fajman finished 10th in the 800, and finishes his season 9th on the top ten list for the 800. This team is undoubtedly one of the best teams in Hanover Central Track and Field history. With many of the athletes returning next year, the future continues to look promising.
