Story by Izzy Sinnott Katelyn Haessly is a high school senior at Hanover. She has very high hopes and a lot of confidence in this year's possibilities. Katelyn is a varsity volleyball player. They are 7-7-0 in regular season play and 4-2 in the NCC. They plan to win Sectionals this year and show everybody that they should not be overlooked. Last year they lost to Bishop Noll in the first round so this is a big goal for the team. Katelyn wants to stay in Indiana for college, so she isn't far too from home. She visited Purdue, Kent State, Ball State, and many others. She wants to study pathology in college, a career that involves brain activity and patterns, but most importantly she wants to help children with trouble speaking and speech impediments. She wants to do this because in middle school she worked with someone that helped her with her speaking problems. Mrs. Mendoza had a great impact on her life her freshman year because she was really easy to talk to. Her sophomore year Mrs. Wright made the biggest impact on her because she taught really well and really made sure her students understood the work. Her junior year, Mr. Cockerham really made her feel like she was understood by recognizing that students also went through things and he respected that. Her senior year she said that Mrs. Walz has made the most impact on her because she has gone through a lot, and she can really respect that she understands her. Since this is Katelyn’s last year she has some things that she is excited to do before she leaves. She wants to go and watch other sports, go to dances, and do some of the yearbook club activities. One thing she really wants is to make the cover for the yearbook because it allows her to show her creativity. Although she is excited for her senior year, she is also ready to start college because this is a new stage in her life. She admits to being nervous because she will be away from home and on her own, but we are sure she will continue to accomplish her goals as she closes out this stage and embarks on a new one.
