Story by Gage Rodriguez Filip Milenkovic, a senior soccer team captain at Hanover Central, plays a very important role on the team with his leadership and with his toughness. The position he plays is center back/center mid. I had the opportunity to sit down with him to talk about his senior year. The first question I asked was, ”How do you get introduced to soccer?" He thought about it for a little bit but he responded with, ”My dad introduced me to the sport at a young age in elementary school.” This early experience and hard work has lead to great success in being a team captain. After that I asked, ”What does it take to be successful in the sport?” He responded with, ”Hard work, dedication, and ability to be coached.” With these traits this could lead to great success not only in soccer but in life. Unfortunately during the first game of the season, he injured his knee and is currently wearing a brace to recover. I asked, ”How will you recover from this injury?” He replied, ”Rest my knee and come ready to help the team again.” Hopefully he can recover fast from this and complete his goals for this season. Filip has some goals he really wants to complete despite the knee injury. He told me his goals are to continue to improve, go undefeated, have the most fun ever, and win a sectional championship. While trying to complete his goals he is also working on his future. I asked about his future plans after high school. He responded quickly with, ”I want to go to college. I am not not sure what college yet, but I am applying this fall.” Then I asked him, ”Would you want to play soccer at a professional level?” He replied with,” No, I won’t be playing soccer at a professional level, but I’ll play soccer in club leagues though.” Even though he doesn’t want to play soccer at a professional level, he still shows passion for the game. In conclusion, Filip is really passionate about the sport and loves the game. He can’t wait to get back on the field and play. Hopefully this injury has a speedy recovery, and he can get back to playing. Even with this obstacle he wants to succeed in all his goals. Good luck to Filip and the entire team on the rest of the season!
