Story by: Jayden Bartoszek Ava Cryderman is a multisport athlete, being a backspot and tumbler in cheerleading as well as a thrower in both shot put and discus for track. She has also been a captain of both her teams all 4 years, and an overall outstanding role model in the community. Ava’s favorite aspect of cheerleading is the teamwork, not only because she enjoys working with her friends, but also because it is crucial that they all know what to do in order to keep everyone safe and execute the difficult skills. Ava joined her middle school cheerleading team in 6th grade, not previously ever seeing herself doing cheer when she was younger. Her mom played a large role in her decision to join cheer, becoming the cheer coach the same season. Within a few weeks, Ava fell in love with the sport and knew she wanted to continue cheering long term. Cheer is her life. She is always doing it, and it means a lot to her because she has her closest friends on the team, and she really wants the program to succeed. Track is more of a challenge, not only physically, but also mentally. The pressure is high, but the hard work and dedication becomes worth it when you put on your best performance. Her junior year she not only made it past sectionals and regionals, she also qualified for indoor state, a feat not many can say they accomplished. Her sophomore season she was awarded second team all conference, and again qualified at both sectionals and regionals. This past season she was also awarded MVP in field events and had the 3rd most points scored for the team. Ava’s future plans are to attend college and become an accountant. She would also explore the possibility of cheer. She would most likely attend Butler University, Indiana State University, or Ball State. We wish her nothing but the best in her future endeavors.
