Story by: Rhyanna Morgan Caiden Verrett has spent all four years as the starting varsity running back on the Hanover Central football team. Other than football, Caiden is also a part of the varsity baseball team. When off the field, he likes to spend his free time playing video games, sleeping, and hanging out with his friends. Before his games, Caiden says that he needs his pick and his locker in order with all of the stuff that he is going to wear laid out to get in the zone. Caiden’s biggest inspiration is his father. His father influenced him to start playing football when he was nine years old. Caiden says his father is his biggest motivation saying, “My dad’s like my best friend. He’s there every single day.” While in college, his father played football also wearing number seven. Following his father’s footsteps, Caiden proudly wears seven across his chest every Friday night. Football has made a huge impact on Caiden and has shaped him into the person that he is today. Caiden says, “Football has made a lot of impacts on my life just by the bonds that I’ve made and the leadership that I’ve grown with. The bonds are something that you’ll never get back and it’s one of the most precious things in the world.” A goal that he has for himself his senior year is to break the career rushing record and for the team to go to state. Caiden doesn’t believe that his football career is meant to end with high school. Since he is already getting offers, he wants to go to a Division One college to play football and hopefully further his education as well. Caiden hopes that in the future he will get the opportunity to play football at a professional level. When his senior season comes to an end, Caiden says that he is going to miss the chemistry that the team has the most. He states, “Being with all the guys, being able to go on the field with them, you’ll never get something like that again. It’s beautiful to just have seventy people who you consider as brothers. I wouldn’t trade it for the world.” For future players, Caiden tells them to take advantage of the time that they have because it goes by really fast and every moment is worth it no matter what.
