As the temperatures drop, so do the runners' times. The HCMS cross-country teams had some very good performances in the cool air at the Highland Invitational. The girls posted five personal best times while the boys had four. The girls finished in third, out of the nine teams. They missed second place by a single point. Kimmy Fruth led the way with a personal best performance, and a 3rd place finish. Kennedy Turner also ran a personal best for eighth place. Avery Blocker rounded out the top-twenty finishers in 13th place. Lilia Perez, Harper Highland and Mia Alexander all ran personal best times. The boys placed sixth out of the nine teams. The team ran in a bigger pack than they have all season, and the gap between runner number one and number five was just 32 seconds. Joseph Lashway led the team in 20th place, while Anthony Miller followed closely behind for 22nd. Brett Burdan ran a personal best for 24th. Deo Williams finished 26th. Chino Williams and Jackson Kawa each ran personal best times and finished 32nd and 34th, respectively. The teams will travel to Pierce on Monday for another LMSAC meet.
