The New Prairie Invite is always a favorite, so when weather threatened to cancel, spirits were low. As the teams waited out the lightning delay, they gathered with other 2A and 1A schools and played volleyball before they received the all-clear to run. With the knowledge that the race would have to be approached with caution and a little bit of fun, the pressure was off. Though the course was incredibly sloppy, the Lady Wildcats battled through and did what no other HC girls team has ever done: They became champions of the New Prairie Invite. Out of 143 runners, Kennedy Morgan, Sam Kawa, Elisa Cornejo, Anna Sucic, and Althea Zinmer finished in the top 30. Baylie Smith may have a future in mud runs because she dominated the course, annihilating her PR by 1:10! Ava Duffy also proved that conditions don't have to hinder, as she dropped :40 from her PR. It was an incredible day for HCXC!
