The cross-country teams finally got a chance to race on Wednesday. After the delays from storms and the condition of the course, the teams hosted St. John the Evangelist and got two wins. The girls won, 18-41. The boys meet was also won by the Wildcats, as the SJE team did not have a complete team in the varsity race. The Wildcat teams were both led by seventh graders in the respective races. Kimmy Fruth won the girls race, while Joseph Lashway placed second in the boys race. In the girls race, the team finished 1,2,4,5,6,7. 6th grader Kennedy Turner finished 2nd. Eighth graders Avery Blocker, Kennede Eckart, Lilia Perez, and Izzy Garduno finished 4th through 7th. In the boys race, after Joseph's second place finish, the team third through seventh, ninth and tenth. 7th grader, Anthony Miller finished 3rd. 8th graders Brett Burdan, Reed LaPorte, and Deo Williams finished 4th through 6th. 6th grader, Chino Williams placed 7th. 8th grader Brett Garduno 9th and 6th grader Jackson Kawa finished 10th. William Wages, Derek Orsini, Harper Highland and Mia Alexander competed in the 2k race. The teams are now 1-0 on the season and will travel to Hebron on Saturday, for the Dave Walker Invitational.
